DO YOU LIKE BROOKS AND DUNN?
IF SO, READ THIS!!
DOUBLE DURANGO FARMS "CLAIM TO FAME" WAS IN OCTOBER
2005 WHEN KIX BROOKS OF BROOKS AND DUNN (COUNTRY WESTERN SINGERS) EMAILED DIANNE AND SAID HE WANTED TO BUY A MINI JACK WE
WERE SELLING AT THE TIME. DIANNE DID NOT REALIZE IT WAS KIX BROOKS ON THE EMAIL OR ON THE PHONE WHEN HE CALLED
(IT WAS OBVIOUS TO KIX THAT DIANNE DID NOT KNOW HIM) AND SO HE ASKED HER IF SHE HAD EVER HEARD OF "BROOKS AND
DUNN" COUNTRY AND SHE SAID "YES" (WONDERING WHY IN THE WORLD THIS MAN WAS ASKING THAT QUESTION WHEN HE WAS
JUST BUYING A DONKEY) AND KIX SAID, "WELL I AM THE BROOKS PART OF THAT". TALK ABOUT FEELING STUPID! WE WERE SELLING THE JACK BECAUSE HE WAS NOT RAISED WITH GOATS AND WAS TRYING TO STOMP AND KILL OUR HERD MEMBERS! (DIANNE
HAD BOUGHT HIM FROM ONE OF HER PETSITTING CUSTOMERS BECAUSE HE WAS CHEWING HER HORSES TAIL OFF). KIX SAID HE DID
NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THAT AS HE HAD NO GOATS. HE DID HAVE 600 ACRES IN NASHVILLE WHERE HE WOULD PROVIDE FOR HIS EVERY
NEED IN THE LAND OF MILK AND HONEY TO OUR DONKEY SO WE SOLD HIM. HE RE-NAMED HIM "RAYMOND" AS HE SAID
HE CAME FROM GEORGIA AND NAMED HIM AFTER RAY CHARLES. KIX AND DIANNE HAVE EXCHANGED EMAILS SEVERAL TIMES AND HE
SENT A PHOTO (AS HE PROMISED) STANDING WITH THE JACK AND HIS OTHER DONKEY NAMED MARIAH. THANK YOU KIX FOR TAKING
THE TIME OUT OF YOUR BUSY LIFE TO DO THIS FOR US AND ALSO FOR GIVING "RAYMOND" THE BEST HOME A DONKEY COULD
ASK FOR! MAY YOU HAVE MANY LITTLE RAYMONDS RUNNING AROUND SOON!

HOW THE DONKEY CAME TO HAVE
HIS CROSS
Everyone knows that the
little donkey carries a cross on his back. Most people don't know the legend
of the donkey's cross. The Story is told that the little donkey that had been Jesus'
mount on Palm Sunday, came to the hill of Calvary. Seeing the tragic
event occurring there he wished with all his heart he had been able to carry the cross for
Jesus as he was the proper one to carry heavy burdens. The donkey turned his back on the sight,
but he could not leave because he wished to stay until all was over because of his love for Jesus.
In reward for the loyal and humble love of the little donkey the Lord caused the shadow
of the cross to fall across his back and left it there for the donkey to carry forevermore
as a sign that the love of God, no matter how humble carries a reward for all to
see.
